Simon Walker

Health and Safety Director

Simon joined Mount Anvil in 2013 and is responsible for driving a world-class health and safety culture across the organisation. 

Simon has been instrumental in putting in place the right processes, systems, technology and communications that have resulted in Mount Anvil being named the UK’s Number 1 company, across all sectors, for Health & Safety.

Simon previously worked as an Associate Director for Mace Group. 

Simon holds an Environment, Health & Safety degree from Bournemouth University and is a member of IOSH.

Tom Shield

Health & Safety Coach

Tom joined Mount Anvil in 2013 as a post graduate student, beginning his career as Health, Safety & Environmental Co-ordinator.

Tom has been instrumental in the implementation of Mount Anvil’s dynamic and proactive Health & Safety management system, supporting and driving excellence in all aspects. This has resulted in Mount Anvil being named the UK’s Number 1 Company for Health & Safety. 

In January 2017, Tom was promoted to Health & Safety Coach where he continues to drive Health & Safety excellence. Tom has also championed Mount Anvil’s Environmental Management System, which has received ISO14001 accreditation and been awarded the Globe of Honour, a prestigious award recognising environment & sustainability best practice.

John Gore

John has over 20 years experience in construction and has recently moved over into Health & Safety. 

Conor-James Brown

Health & Safety Co-ordinator

Conor joined Mount Anvil in 2015 and is responsible for helping to deliver our key driver, to create a business where there is no likelihood of a serious accident.

Conor has been instrumental in administrating our Hazard Logging System, which has seen Mount Anvil achieve over 12,000 hazards recorded in 2015; a record number which has contributed to an 80% reduction in accidents in 2015.

Conor holds a Business Management with Human Resource Management degree from the University of Brighton.

Jamie Horgan

Development Manager - Centre of Excellence

In 2016, Jamie joined Mount Anvil as Development Manager to manage Mount Anvil's Centre of Excellence.

Jamie has 20 years construction experience starting his career as a scaffolder, then as a technical coordinator in the residential sector, and since 2010 has worked in Business Development for various subcontractors.

Jamie is a passionate and enthusiastic individual who's motivation is to make the Centre of Excellence the industry leader for Health & Safety training. He has expressed how excited he is to be working for a company that has such a strong Health & Safety culture, a culture which is fed into all Centre of Excellence courses in the strive to educate and make construction and other industry sectors a safer place to work.

Alastair Malcolm

Training Manager

Alastair, the Trainer at the Mount Anvil Centre of Excellence, has a wealth of safety experience rooted in 25 years spent as a fire fighter in the Essex Borough and 10 years as a Safety Advisor.

Alastair has worked on some of London’s most iconic schemes, such as Mount Anvil’s Lexicon development on City Road and the build of the Westfield shopping centre in Stratford. His breadth of safety knowledge is supported by a City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Education and Training, which enables Alastair to deliver courses in a practical, accessible and jargon-free manner.

A word from Alastair: “I have been on several courses where the Trainer has been unengaging, making course material hard to digest. My courses are clear, concise and encourage interaction; ensuring that learning objectives are achieved. I always spend the extra time necessary to coach delegates to success.”

Bryn Parker

Head of Future Foundations

I have worked as the Head of Skills Employment Framework since September 2017. I ensure that as a company we are creating employment and training opportunities for those interested in entering the construction industry. With a skills shortage across the sector, I also focus on improving the promotion of the construction industry as a viable career option through working with schools from as early as primary level.
